Please cancel as early as possible so we can offer the appointment to another patient.

Why reception asks for information

Our reception team is trained to ask brief questions about the reason for your call. This helps us direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service as quickly as possible.

This is not about blocking access to GPs. It helps us use the full range of services available and make sure patients receive the right care.

Reception staff follow the same strict confidentiality rules as clinical staff. Any information you share is treated confidentially.

Urgent advice: Need urgent help?

If someone is seriously ill or injured, call 999.
If the practice is closed and you need urgent medical advice, call NHS 24 on 111.
For minor illnesses, your community pharmacy may be able to help through Pharmacy First Scotland.

Mental Health Nurse

Our Mental Health Nurse service is currently unavailable at the practice. Reception can advise on alternative support and the most appropriate route for your needs.

pharmacist

Practice Pharmacist

For medication-related questions or reviews, you may be booked in with our clinical pharmacist.

pharmacy

Your local pharmacy can help with many common minor illnesses, including coughs, sore throats, hay fever, skin rashes, eczema, cystitis in women, threadworms, warts and verrucas.

You do not need an appointment. If the pharmacist thinks you need to see a GP or another service, they will advise you.

physio

Advanced Physiotherapist

For muscle, joint and back problems, our Advanced Physiotherapist can assess, examine, advise on treatment and arrange further investigations where appropriate.

ANP

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Can assess symptoms, diagnose illness, prescribe medication, and arrange tests or scans where appropriate. They work closely with our GPs to provide fast, expert care.

GP

General Practitioners

GPs are specialists in complex care, long-term conditions, diagnostic uncertainty, palliative care and ongoing medical problems. They work closely with the wider practice team.

Non-urgent advice: Important Note for Dental or Eye Problems

Dental problems
For tooth pain, gum problems, dental swelling or mouth injuries, contact your dentist directly. If you are not registered with a dentist, use NHS Inform to find a dentist.

Eye problems
For eye pain, red eye, eye infections, flashes/floaters or sudden changes in vision, contact an optician first. Opticians are trained to assess urgent eye problems and can refer you onwards if needed.

If you think you may need to go to A&E but it’s not life-threatening, or if you’re too unwell to wait until the GP practice opens, you can call NHS 24 on 111—free of charge, 24 hours a day.

NHS 24 will help you get the right care in the right place, which may be closer to home and might avoid the need to attend A&E.
