Get the right care, from the right person, at the right time

Our aim is to help patients access the most appropriate care safely and efficiently.

When you contact the practice, our reception team may ask for a brief description of your problem. This helps us direct your request to the right person or service. Receptionists are trained to ask these questions and treat your information confidentially.

Depending on your needs, you may be offered an appointment with a GP or another member of the practice team, or advised to contact another appropriate service such as community pharmacy, optometry, dental services, NHS 24 or emergency services.

Non-urgent advice: Step 1

Help choosing the right service for you

Before requesting a GP appointment, please consider who is best placed to help you.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Our Advanced Nurse Practitioner can assess symptoms, diagnose illness, prescribe medication, and arrange tests or scans where appropriate.

Advanced Physiotherapist
For muscle, joint, back or mobility problems, our Advanced Physiotherapist may be the most appropriate person to assess you.

Practice Pharmacist
For medication questions, medication reviews or prescription-related queries, our Practice Pharmacist may be able to help.

GP
GP appointments are most appropriate for complex, ongoing, uncertain or serious medical problems.

Some services are designed to be contacted directly by patients. Please see the Minor illnesses, dental or eye problems section below.

Non-urgent advice: Step 2

How to arrange your appointment

To request an appointment, phone 01968 675 576 and choose the appointments option.

Please phone between 8:30am and 5:30pm to book an appointment. For same-day appointents, please phone before 10am.

If your problem is urgent and cannot wait, please phone the practice as early in the day as possible.

Between 8:00am and 8:30am and 5:30pm and 6:00pm, the phone line is for urgent or emergency enquiries only.

When you contact us, our reception team may ask for a brief description of your problem. This helps us direct your request safely and appropriately. Receptionists are trained to ask these questions and treat your information confidentially.

Depending on your needs, you may be offered a GP appointment, an appointment with another member of the practice team, or advice to contact another appropriate service.

Non-urgent advice: Step 3

Attend, cancel or rearrange

Please attend your appointment on time.

If you no longer need your appointment or cannot attend, please cancel it as early as possible. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient.

You can cancel your appointment using our online cancellation form or by phoning the practice.

If you are late

If you are running late, please phone the practice as soon as possible.

If you arrive late, the clinician may not be able to see you. This will depend on:

  • how late you are
  • the type of appointment
  • the clinical urgency of the problem
  • the needs of other patients
  • whether any reasonable adjustments are needed

If we cannot safely see you, we may need to offer another appointment.

Non-urgent advice: Minor illnesses, dental problems and eye problems

Community pharmacy / Pharmacy First
For many common minor illnesses, your local pharmacy may be the best first point of contact.

Dentist
For tooth pain, gum problems, dental swelling or mouth injuries, please contact your dentist directly.

Optician
For eye pain, red eye, flashes or floaters, or sudden changes in vision, please contact an optician first.
